Portable Storage Locker

Hello, My name is Gabriel Goh and I am a student at Diablo Valley College. For the design challenge, I made a portable storage locker to aid in organization and improved storage.

For this project, I used Fusion 360 for the rendered model and Photoshop for sketching.

To start with you need to talk to a consumer to get an idea of what to design first. My consumer is John who is a forklift operator who typically works outdoors. He faces problems working in the sun and often finds his water turning lukewarm, and often finds it difficult to store tools and items he has on hand.

For this step, I found images online of coolers and car storage compartments as inspiration for the locker, as well as how it will sit flush within the forklift to be nonobstructive. Afterward, I sketched with pen and paper my idea of how I wanted the locker to look and work. My design focused on the two problems my consumer faced which were lacking storage space and hot weather, and to combat this I made the interior with a filer for paperwork and files, a cup holder with a vent to allow cool air in, to keep water cold, and side space for storing jackets, a phone, tools, or other items he might have on hand.

Next, I went into Photoshop to make a refined final sketch of my storage locker. I compiled the sketches in orthographic view and showed a cleaner and more detailed version of my initial sketches, as well as a cut view with details of how the inside storage will work.

Next, I went to Fusion 360 to design a model of my locker to get a basic understanding of what it would look like.

For the final touches, I took my Fusion 360 Model and rendered it in the basic orthographic views.
