Portable (Mac) Raspberry Pi 3

As a Year 13 CAS Project, two students made a portable Raspberry Pi 3 which is intended to look like a Macintosh computer. Feel free to recreate this yourselves by using/adapting the files attached. There are three simple steps to carry out.

• Portable battery + associated cable
• Raspberry Pi 3 B
• Screwdriver
• 2 screws (Length = 2mm)
• 3D printing equipment
• Keyboard and mouse

Use the attached file to print the case for the raspberry pi. Then screw in both screws diagonally into the dedicated holes. This must be done so that the pi can later be fastened securely into the case.

Note: the pictures of the orange case correspond to an older prototype, which was changed slightly to give the final (white) case.

Now that the case is settled, the work on the screen can now begin. Simply push the screen down into the raspberry pi through the two rows of "needles" (see the red circle on the photo above). Connect the pi to the portable battery. Ensure that the red light on the pi turns on, and that a white glow appears. Then proceed to setting up the screen for use (there are tutorials online, for example see this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fj3wq98pd20).

Once everything is set up, disassemble the screen and screws. Place the raspberry pi onto the case, and secure it using the screws and screwdriver. Gently insert the screen into the pi. Connect the pi to a power source, and ensure that the screen is functional. Connect a mouse and keyboard to the pi using the dedicated USB cables. You now have a portable raspberry pi!
