Portable Greenhouse Made From Recycling Materials
I've been growing herbs in my balcony for a long time. It is great fun! They are always fresh and healthy when you don't use pesticides. Most herbs need plenty of water and sunshine. However there are always some unexpected problems such as bugs, cold weather and hailstorms. So I've decided to build a portable greenhouse for my tiny basil plant. I'm going to show you how to build one from recycling materials, thus it is very cheap and environmentally friendly!
Supplies
You need: two 5-Liter water bottles, packing tape, black sharpie, utility knife, hot glue gun (optional).
Preparing the Base
Cut the top of your first bottle. This will be the base of your greenhouse. Then you can adjust it for your pot by placing your pot as shown and then marking the level it will stay. After marking, cut it from the line and you should get a ring-like piece as shown. Test if your pot can fit into the piece. If not, trim the excess plastic for an exact fit.
Cutting the Second Bottle
Cut the second bottle from the same level as the first one. Make sure that you don't cut it off entirely since we will tape the rip afterwards; leave a little space as shown in the photo.
Attaching the Base
Attach the base into your greenhouse. You can use hot glue for more steadiness.
Tape It Up
This step is pretty strait forward. Having gently placed your plant into your greenhouse, tape the two halves together and you're ready to go!
Finished Project
Here it is, your portable greenhouse! Now you can water your plant simply by opening the cap and take it wherever you like.
