Popup Shop Modular Shelves

I opened few weeks ago my own Popup shop because I want to purchase embroidered handmade t-shirt.

My tiny budget, though, didn’t allow me to furnish the shop with expensive pieces of furniture: Quite the opposite, actually! So I start thinking about the cheapest solution possibile and hot to realize it.

Eureka! I searched online for pallets solution, but I wasn’t satisfied with those idea: I was looking for something more modern and aesthatical. I was pretty frustrated, until I came up with an idea: Why don’t build my own DIY project?

I designed a modular exhibition set of shelves and decided to buy some wooden boards, precisely OSB and white bilaminate edged of a thickness between 16 and 19 mm (¾” and ⅞”).

As you may have understood, I’m not really the DIY kind of a guy, so I didn’t want to use power tools nor drill nor drain any materials. According to those needs, I decided to assemble my shelves’ set by using PlayWood Connectors 90°: They are made of recycled high-performing plastic materials and they are extremely durable and ductile. Of course, you may use common metallic angle, instead of this PlayWood system.

For the creation of this DIY project, I used:

• 30 PlayWood Connectors 90° 6 OSB + White bilaminate edged Boards 60 x 40 cm - 23,62” x 15,75”
• 6 OSB + White bilaminate edged Boards 40 x 30 cm - 15,75” x 11,81”

I decided to build my project in an horizontal sense by constructing two lines of rectangular shapes where I’ll exhibit my goods.

As a first step, I built the basement using the longest wooden boards at my disposal and joining them through the PlayWood Connectors’ system. Then I added three smaller wooden boards in correspondace of each connector in a vertical sense: I built the side walls of my shelves. After that I put other two wooden boards on the top of the structure and created two rectangular shapes. In the end I repeated the operation for another line of shelves and I created my modular project.

In very few steps and a reasonable amount of time I created my modular project, easy to transport and fold when I’ll change location. Plus, I can re-assamble and re-design all the modular structure on the basis of the space at my disposal or of my needs! That’s brilliant!
