Popsicle Stick Bender
For a project that I will make some time in the future I built this Popsicle stick bender. I needed curved Popsicle sticks for them and I needed some way to do them faster than one at a time. So I made this.
This is also the first instructable in my new series that I'm starting, Popsicle stick hacks.
You can find my second instructable, battery organizer, here.
Materials
Really all you need is some kind of glue (I used hot glue), and some Popsicle sticks.
Making the Central Bar
First you are going to get a couple Popsicle sticks (I used five) and glue them one on top of the other.
Adding the Wings
Now add the "wings" to the central bar and then add onto them to give them support.
Connecting the Wings
Now you need to connect the wings with more bars parallel to the first central bar. Then add support again. Then, to reverse the stress that the bending Popsicle sticks have on the unit, I put another bar that goes on top of the two bars between the wings but under the central bar.
Bending the Popsicle Sticks
Now, to bend the Popsicle sticks you need to boil them for a while. I used the rig above to bill the Popsicle sticks and be able to get them out easy and quickly. Then once boiled for around 10 minutes you just insert them into the bender rig and give them an hour or so to bend and dry.
