Pokéball Log Sugar Cookies

I'm back from Montreal, Canada with a new style of cookie-making for me (out of my comfort zone!): log cookies! These cookies are inspired by Candy Lab's handmade candy!
Candy Labs makes their candy by breaking down the design into smaller shapes and then rolling them all together into a log. I attempted to mimmic this method for this week's Pokemon cookies, which are in the shape of adorable Pokeballs!
SUGAR COOKIE RECIPE
3 Cups Flour
1/2 tsp Baking Powder
1/2 tsp Salt
2 Sticks Butter (unsalted!)
1 1/3 Cups Sugar
2 Eggs
2 tsp Vanilla Extract
Red and Black Food Coloring

Sift Dry Ingredients Together. Set Aside.

Beat Butter and Sugar

Add Eggs (one at Time Until Each Is Incorporated)

Add Vanilla. Mix.

Gradually Add Flour. Mix Until Just Incorporated.

Separate Sections

Break into 3 sections: 1 larger section, 1 slightly smaller, and 1 even smaller
Dye the Smaller Sections

The medium sized section should be dyed red and the smallest section, black.
Roll Part of White Section Into a Log

Roll Part of Black Section Into a Rectangle

The rectangle should be the length of the log and as wide as the diameter of the white section.
Roll the Black Rectangle Around the White Log

Form Rest of Dough Into Thick Rectangles

With the rest of the white and red dough, form identical thick rectangles that are the length of the black log.
Break the rest of the black dough in two and shape into much thinner rectangles of the same length.
Attach the pieces, alternating black with the other two colors.
Roll Around Log

Place the log onto the rectangle and roll the rectangle around the log.
Cut Cookies

Roll out the log and cut the cookies
Bake

Bake in a 350 degree oven for 10-30 minutes, depending on the thickness of the cookies. Enjoy!
