Pocket Stew
Pocket stew is something I have been making for a long time. I learned how to make it in boy scouts a few years ago. The great thing about pocket stew is you can make it anyway you want depending on what you like. If you can imagine it, you can make it into pocket stew. The only part of pocket stew that you cant change is that it goes into a foil pocket and is heated usually on a campfire but you can use a stove or toaster oven too.
The first time I made it, I made a beef pocket stew with mashed potatoes. This time I made pocket stew with just frozen corn and seasonings. I hope you enjoy!
Supplies
Heat source. It can be an oven, toaster oven, campfire, or grill
Foil
Cooked meat of your choice. steak-ums and rotisserie chicken have work well.
About 1/3 to a 1/2 cup of vegetables
2 tablespoons of water
salt and pepper or seasoings of your choice
Steps
1.Preheat the heat source
2. Cut out a piece of foil measuring at least 1ft by 1ft
3. Place it flat on a surface for assembly
4. make a pocket out of the foil by folding in the edges.
5. put chicken, frozen vegetables, water, and any seasonings of your choice. I like to use salt, pepper, garlic powder, cumin, and chili powder.
6. fold the foil around the ingredients being careful to not spill any water out. Try to seal the pocket completely
7. put the pocket on the heat source and allow to cook for 15 to 20 mins. '
8. take the pocket out using tongs or oven mitts. IT will be very hot.
9. Let stand for 2 to 5 mins.
10. Open the pocket an enjoy.
