Pneumatic / Air Tool Holder

I just wanted to free up space in my toolbox drawers so I asked google to show me organizers for air / pneumatic tools. This particular concept caught my eye and I had material to use, so here it is. Took about 1 hr. including paint drying time.

5/16" Drill bit

Tape measure

16" angle iron

Steel Punch (optional, but recommended)

Grinder with cutting wheel and wire wheel (optional)

Spray Paint (optional)

Steel File

I'm using scrap steel from a bed / mattress frame. This stuff is found everywhere and I keep some on hand for projects such as this. One can go buy angle iron, sure. but at that point it would probably cost just as much to buy this already made somewhere.

-starting from the end with a 1" mark then every 2" for a total of 8 holes.

-measuring 1" after the 8th hole should give you a 16" overall length.

-I decided to go 3/4" deep, so I marked a line the length of the piece.

-used a center punch to mark and drill out the holes (two of them still travelled on me a bit, but it still worked)

-you can use either a drill press or hand drill.

-with the holes drilled, Mark out cut lines for the slots

-with a grinder and a cutting wheel, I made the slots cutting along the inside of the lines. You can also use a hacksaw with a blade for metal, but you gonna be there a while.

-use a file to clean up the edges

-don't forget to drill mounting holes! I went with a smaller diameter for those - location and size dealer's choice!

-Tested to confirm air tools fit in the slots. Take down any sharp edges with a file.

-Switched to wire wheel to clean up the piece. Wire brush or sand paper works as well

-wiped it down with mineral spirits to prep for paint and gave it a quick tac coat.

-2nd coat followed a few minutes after and done!

-Mounted it on the edge of a shelf and it works as planned. Hope this helps!
