Plywood - Cute Crates
When I think of Plywood a large, huge image covers my mind. Something very intimidating and big with loads or large tools required to get the job done. However, for this project I was looking forward to work on a project that stems from plywood but is reasonably small and easy to manage. These cute crates are made with plywood and I will show you all the steps to achieve those. With two different styles and everything handmade you will be left with more than one option to choose from. Join me in the making of these cute crates!

Getting the Plywood Ready
These are plywood pieces 15" x 12" and 5" x 6". Cut into 12" strips. Lightly sanded. Then, painted it in green and yellow.
Making the Designs
With the help of a black permanent marker, I carefully marked the borders and made the designs by hand. Each foot long wooden strip has a very unique design. See the first image for the patterns.
Green and Yellow Crates
I was looking to make a combination or mix-and-match with the green on top and yellow below and vice versa..Cut these into 5" and 6" strips with a little space for fitting them adjacent at the corners.
Gluing the Crates
After cutting the strips, I then placed them on the 5" x 6" bottom. Glued each one carefully and clamped for 12+ hours to get fastened. Then, added the middle strips for firmness and attachment of the yellow strips above the green. Finally clamped these on top and let it sit for the next 12+ hours to be firm. The crates were ready as shown. Slowly added the golden color thumbtack on the green top level. A pair of green and yellow crates are ready!
The White Crate
This is 3.5 inches and 8 ft long plywood. I cut it into three pieces of 3.5" squares. And two 5 inches x 3.5 inches pieces as show in the image 3. Glued. Colored, Designed. Let it dry and its ready. This is a 5 in x 5 in square crate or planter.
Pink and Other Crates
Very similarly I made these other crates in pink, green, brown and yellow colors. These crates look so artistic and attractive.
I hope you enjoyed making these crates. Thanks for stopping by!
