Pleated Origami Pawn Which Transforms Into a Queen
I noticed that in chess kingdom, a pawn quickly turns into a Queen when it reaches the final space.
I wanted to create a similar structure through Origami.
And in doing so, I came up with this idea, since in Origami, there are multiple folds which can be hidden through the paper, I hid the lower section of the Pawn, and during promotion, it will turn into a queen.
Supplies
- Paper printout of the diagram as shown above.
- Printer.
- Scale. -to fold the lines.
- A4 sheet of paper - to printout the design.
Printout the Design
- Print out the design and start folding along the lines.
- Fold the first symmetrical piece as shown in the diagram, the lower edges are on-off to hind the section of the Queen.
Make All Necessary Folds
- Start folding as shown, first fold as per the diagram.
- Start curving the design into a Pawn.
- Stick the last and the first designs together.
- Now, fold the design again to give it Pawn Shape.
- Open and close the design to mimic a Pawn turning into a Queen and back.
