The sheets come 10 1/2 inches x 13 1/2 inches.
Myrna cut the green rails 3 squares tall and the long width of the base sheet.

Three squares tall and as wide as the base sheet, the center squares will hold the stitches and the top and bottom squares will hold the Letter and Number Cards. The cards slide along these rails to be able to move the numbers around for each month. The 1st of the month does not always start on a Monday.

In the picture below you can see the first rail is sewn right to the edge of the base. The rest of the rails will be sewn in the center to hold cards above and below.
If you sew the first 2 rows from the bottom you will have 10 squares between the stitches on the 1st and 2nd rails. 11 if you don't.

There are 10 spaces between the stitches on all the rest of the rails

The cards are 9 x 9 squares and fit to slide between the rails.

If you sew over 1 under 1 at the end you stitch over 1 under 1 to get a solid line of stitches along the length of the rail.

Photo below shows the cards held in place by the rails.
At the bottom of the picture is a 9x9 square card that will have a number or a letter stitched on it. These will be the dates of the month like 23 on 1 card or the days of the month like M, T, W, T, F, S, S.

Month and Year Cards With Storage

Month and Year cards are done the same way the day and date cards are done except larger for several letters like JAN, FEB, MAR, APR, MAY, JUN, JUL, AUG, SEP, OCT, NOV, and DEC

You want to have several year cards (2010, 2011, 2012, .......) because this calendar will last a very long time.

All the month and year cards can be stored on a sheet sewn to the back of the calendar and set-up the same way as the calendar front to hold them in place.
