This is a Mobile that expresses the problems that plastic pollution is having on todays society. This artwork is simple, yet conveys a strong message.
Collect First Few Materials

Step 1 : Collect 4 wooden skewers (the ones I am using have a length of 40 cm and a diameter of 0.05 cm), a ruler and a pencil.
Marking the Skewers
![Marking the Wooden Skewers .png](/proxy/?url=https://content.instructables.com/F8Z/E56X/LCUJ69NZ/F8ZE56XLCUJ69NZ.png&filename=Marking the Wooden Skewers .png)
![Dimensions .png](/proxy/?url=https://content.instructables.com/FGQ/MWT3/LCUJ69O0/FGQMWT3LCUJ69O0.png&filename=Dimensions .png)
Using a ruler, measure out and mark each length onto the wooden skewers (the dimensions that I chose are displayed in the image). I found it useful to mark the lengths in order to differentiate them.
Cutting the Skewers

![Japanese Saw and Wooden Skewers.png](/proxy/?url=https://content.instructables.com/FL8/AZQN/LDD3X1Q5/FL8AZQNLDD3X1Q5.png&filename=Japanese Saw and Wooden Skewers.png)
![Cutting Process.png](/proxy/?url=https://content.instructables.com/FLL/62QL/LDD3X1RB/FLL62QLLDD3X1RB.png&filename=Cutting Process.png)
Take a saw (I used a Japanese saw as can be seen in the image above), and cut each of the skewers at the points that you had previously marked down. Displayed above is also an image of how I cut the skewers (using a clamp)
Mark the Skewers

![Drilling Process.png](/proxy/?url=https://content.instructables.com/FQ9/H573/LDD3X23J/FQ9H573LDD3X23J.png&filename=Drilling Process.png)
![FInished Hole.png](/proxy/?url=https://content.instructables.com/FB6/BDCE/LDD3X23K/FB6BDCELDD3X23K.png&filename=FInished Hole.png)
In order to connect the skewers to create the base of the artwork, I drilled holes into the ends where a skewer met another, and drilled a hole using a small pillar drill. Before using the drill make sure to accurately mark where each of the holes are going to go (using a pencil).
Wire the Holes
![Wire Cutter and Wire.png](/proxy/?url=https://content.instructables.com/F5U/0RPC/LDD3X2K8/F5U0RPCLDD3X2K8.png&filename=Wire Cutter and Wire.png)

![Final Base .png](/proxy/?url=https://content.instructables.com/FZU/NVSY/LDD3X2KA/FZUNVSYLDD3X2KA.png&filename=Final Base .png)
Once the holes have been drilled into the individual skewers, take a bendable wire, and thread it through the holes at the ends of each skewer in order to connect them. To cut the wire, it would be easier to have some kind of wire cutters, as normal scissors may not work effectively.
Create Decorations

Here is where you can get creative!
- I used colorful paper and my fish stencil to trace and cut out different colored fish, as well as creating unique shapes and creating them into corals
- I used felt to create fun shapes, and stuck them together using hot glue
- I crumpled tape to create the 'plastic' ornaments
Attach Ornaments to Structure
![String + Scissors.png](/proxy/?url=https://content.instructables.com/FCJ/W2LL/LDOJE6LH/FCJW2LLLDOJE6LH.png&filename=String + Scissors.png)
![Fish Ornament.png](/proxy/?url=https://content.instructables.com/FLG/VJO8/LDOJE6NH/FLGVJO8LDOJE6NH.png&filename=Fish Ornament.png)
- Once your ornements are finished, hot glue them to pieces of string.
- Tie the string ornaments and decorations to your structure
- Remember : put the dark decorations + plastic on one side and the colorful fish and corals on the other
