Plastic Egg Bot

Make a USB charging capacitor powered moving robot out of the plastic egg that held your kinder surprise toy!

(Warning, this robot may be better than the actual toy)

You will need:

1. A plastic egg (the egg that lives inside a chocolate Kinder Surprise* and holds the toy)

2. A Fizzbit, available here

3. Two googly eyes

4. A self-adhesive sticky foam pad

5. A paperclip (not shown)

*Apparently Kinder Surprise is officially banned in 'the land of the free' but, according to Wikipedia, the delicious toy-filled chocolate eggs are available in some Eurpoean grocery stores. Across Europe they are available in most corner shops.

Open up the plastic egg and begin to peel the strip that attaches the two halves together away from the larger half. This should open up a slit in the larger half. Peel until you reach the edge of the circle on the top of the larger half.

Using scissors cut the strip you peeled off away from both halves of the egg.

Poke the USB end of the Fizzbit through the slit in the larger half of the egg, from the inside.

Stick the sticky foam pad to the area of plastic between the slit and the main opening of the larger half of the egg. Push the motor end of the Fizzbit down onto the pad to attach it. Cut the part of the pad that is overhanging and save it for the next step.

The part of the pad you have just removed you can stick to the back of the Fizzbit as shown. Snap the smaller half of the egg back on.

Take the paperclip, begin to unbend and shape it into a kind of Y shape as shown.

Poke the end of the paperclip into one side of the slit and then attach the bend to the sticky pad on the back of the Fizzbit.

Attach the googly eyes (or draw some on with a marker) and your Egg Bot is done.

Plug the USB sticking out of your bots head into your USB port for about 30s. Pull it out and your bot should start running about. When he runs out of juice just plug him in again for more fun.
