Plastic Coat Hanger Into Fancy Chip Clips
All of our potato chip clips went missing and I needed one! I found this plastic coat hanger in the trash after my wife just went shopping. I decided to cut off the ends and make a few clips to use.
It took less than 15 minutes to make!!
Supplies
safety glasses
gloves
plastic coat hanger with clips on the ends
razor knife
tin-snips
or a hacksaw, dremel with a cutoff wheel, regular saw
Easy DIY Clips
1. Put on your safety glasses and/or gloves.
2. Cut off the ends of the hanger with the tin-snips, but don't cut too close to the clip. Dont worry about making a clean cut with that tool, we will be able to clean off the edge later. If you dont have tin-snips, try a hack-saw, dremel tool, or a regular saw should work too.
3. After the inital cut, I used the tin-snips to trim as close to the edge of the clip. (see the black clip picture)
4. Use your razor knife to slowly clean off the edge to make it smooth. Make sure to always turn the blade away from you and cut away from your body so that there are no injuries.
5. Enjoy! Now you have clips anytime you need them. Next time save your hangers instead of tossing them!
