This creative idea can turn your plastic bags into something more fun, a kite! You can make this with your children and enjoy some family times together while encouraging them to learn the fundamentals of building.

WARNING: This project includes scissors, hot glue gun, and skewers. Only make under adult supervision and if you are an adult making this kite for your kids, please note to use the kite under adult supervision and don't let a kid handle it on its own if he/she is under 8, the skewers are dangerous to kids so be careful.

Supplies

  • Glue gun
  • Scissors
  • Masking tape of regular old tape
  • Skewers

Cut the plastic bag from the bottom and ONE of the sides to get a big rectangle, I suggest if you are a "clumsy" person like me get two or three bags so you wont mess up.

Make the Cross With Skewers

Take enough skewers to make a cross shape and and over lap the skewers so they wont break during the flight. DONT GLUE ONTO THE PLASTIC YET!

Make the Frame

Take you cross shape then tape them in the middle. To secure it more use string to wrap around the middle. Then wrap each end of the stick with string so it looks like the above. Use the hot glue gun to glue the string in place.

Assemble

Pop the frame on the plastic and cut 2 inches away from the sides. Glue the flaps in to cover the string spare no glue here because it the plastic comes apart your kite will break. Add ribbon to the sides and tail to make it look nice you can also color yours with permanent markers. Your done! You can also make this with cheap tablecloth from dollar tree and it could be more colorful.
