Plant Conservatory and Home Schooling Center

For this project, I created a reusable building. The purpose of this building is to serve as a plant conservatory-type of building in addition to a home schooling center. During school seasons, it can serve as a place for kids to learn about science-related subjects, such as biology, but during other seasons, it can be used as a place to grow and conserve plants. I chose this as my project because I love gardening, and I have been homeschooled before, so these types of buildings resonate with me.

Sketch Out Plan

When planning this building, I knew I wanted it to have a homey feel and to have enough windows to let in plenty of light. In addition to this, I wanted there to be room for tables for plants to sit on and school chairs, while still being of a manageable size. This led me to my final design, which encompassed the majority of my goals. Originally, I did intend for this building to have more animal-based focuses, but I changed my mind. My change in plan was due to the realization that a building for animals to stay in may not be the best for a multi-purpose plan involving kids.

Modeling

Moving on to a digital form of media, I made a model of my sketch on Revit. I endeavored to incorporate the majority of my ideas while still staying true to my main goals for this project. When filling the space inside, I tried to leave enough room for tables where plants would sit while still leaving space for students. I attempted to ensure the furniture inside could be easily removed or changed for times when it is solely used for gardening, and vice versa. I believe I accomplished my main goals, and I'm overall happy with my final design.
