Supplies

You will need

  • A 112mm length of wire to create the joint of the case. I used a ⌀2.4mm filler rod, but the case can be modified for different sizes of wire.
  • The 3D printed top and bottom sections of the case.

Print and Prepare Case

Print "BOTTOM.stl" and "TOP.stl"

I would recommend 1 at a time.

If you need to change the hinge hole diameter in Fusion or Meshmixer.

Print Settings (.4mm Nozzle)

  • Layer Height: .2mm
  • Infill: 20-60%
  • Walls: 2-3
  • No Supports

(Use ABS or PETG for increased heat / chemical resistance)

Insert Wire for the Joint

Insert the wire that you've found to act as a joint. I used a piece of TIG filler wire.

It should be a tight fit to ensure rod stays in place.

Check Fitment

Tips will fit in back first and can be clipped in with relatively light force, If printed with ABS, the tips can be inserted will still hot.

Interfaces at the joint can be sanded to adjust the friction when opening / closing.
