Pimp Your Lamp!
This is a very simple instructable that will show you how to turn your boring-looking GRONO lamp from IKEA, into a beam of unbearable beauty... read on!
For this instructable you will need:
1. A boring-looking GRONO lamp from IKEA (don't accept imitations!)
2. Your favorite sheet of Japanese paper
3. Measuring tape
4. A sharp knife
5. A small piece of scotch tape
6. Some white glue
7. A pencil
Measure and Cut the Paper
a. Use the measuring tape to measure the height of the lamp, then use a pencil to mark the same length on the paper sheet by measuring across the SHORTEST edge.
b. Bend the remaining of the paper inwards so you can use the knife to cut it (just like in the picture below).
c. Use again the measuring tape to measure the full length around the lamp, then use the pencil to mark that length plus about 2-3 extra inches on the paper sheet by measuring across the LONGEST edge.
d. Repeat the cutting process to get rid of the excess paper.
Position and Secure the Paper
Place one of the short edges of the paper over the lamp and position it so it covers its full height. Use a piece of scotch tape to secure the paper to the lamp, this will prevent it from moving around while we wrap it and glue it around the lamp.
Wrap and Glue the Paper Tightly
Put some white glue on the edge of the paper that has been secured, then, wrap the paper tightly around the lamp so you can glue it to itself on the other side.
You Are Done!
Wait for about 20 minutes for the glue to dry off and place your new beacon of beauty in your favorite spot... but be careful, don't look at it for too long!... otherwise you might loose your ability to appreciate all the other, less beautiful, things in the world.
