Hello dear Money savers,
Here we have a nice idea for all of you to save money while charging your smartphone.
Our Piggy Bank Smartphone Charger charges your phone with the energy generated from your coins that are put in the Piggy Bank. By this way you are encouraging yourself to save money.
The credit of this idea goes to Instructables, as we always want to make energy from simple materials and searched the website for this.
Our Mother loves gadgets but she doesn't like to charge these gadgets after each hour. Also money doesn't stay in her hands for a while. So we Made a small solution for her problem.

So here's a whole ible of this project.
Concept and Acknowledgements...
In this step we are giving you a brief idea of this project.
We have used Piezoelectric transducers for generating electrical energy from kinetic energy of the coins.
We Have used the buzzer circuit for converting the AC of the Piezo Plates To DC...
And we have also made a small dynamo so that you can charge your phone if you don't have money at that time.

Now let's Work on this Interesting project....
Joule Thief : Making PCB
Let's start making the circuit of this joule thief...
See the circuit above and the place all the components on a perfboard...
Firstly add all the capacitors followed by the resistor and the transistor....
Now place the diodes...
After placing solder all the components at their place with the respective circuit...
Attach wires for input, output and then attach the wires for the ferrite toroid....
For more information visit here....
After making Circuit let's move to next step....
Joule Thief : Making Coil
If you haven't got a ferrite toroid like us then follow this step but if you have got then follow this ible....
First take the pen with a diameter roughly equal to the diameter of AA Cell...
Then Start Coiling the wires around the pen in a group of 2 as shown in images...
Continue to coil the wire till 5 meters of a wire (means 10m altogether) end..
Tape All the coil stiffly to ensure that it does not bends...
Then slide out the pen to get a coil...
For More Info visit Here
UPDATE- We have made a small coil using two copper wires..
Visit the link above for more Information...
Joule Thief : Assembling
Now take the PCB and the coil...
Solder the wires from the PCB to the coil as shown in the circuit..
Now keep this unit aside and now let's start working on the piezo generator...
Piezo Generator : Plates
Want to ask some questions ask them here
First Take all the buzzers and break apart their bodies...
Be Careful to not to harm their circuits.
For Making Your Own Buzzer Circuit if you have broken it or could only find the piezo plates visit here or see the circuit diagram above..
Now cut off the circuits from two piezo plates as we do not need these circuits...
Now solder all the piezo plates parallely which means that connect all the three wires of a piezo to the another on its place like + to + and - to -....
Now glue a piece of foam to every plates as shown in the images...
After gluing the foam move to the next step...
Piezo Generator : Testing
This video shows you the working of the Piezo Generator....
Piezo Generator : 5v Regulator
Take Both the capacitors and and the transistor and place them on the perfboard as shown in the images...
Now solder them accordingly to the circuit...
Make sure that your circuit works with a multimeter and a 9v battery....
If everything works alright just put it aside and move to the next step...
CD Drive Dynamo
Now take the CD Drive Assembly And take the wires from the motor which is connected to the gearbox as shown in images...
Now with the help of multimeter measure the voltage produced by dynamo...
It should be 4-6v.....
Now let's move to the next step...
Assembling Everything Together...
Now take the piggy bank...
First open it up....
Then take the foam sheet and add padding to the inner sides of the piggy bank...
Now take the base of the piggy bank and attach the piezo plates to it as shown in images...
Now take the wires from the Piezo plates and attach them to the joule thief input....
Then take the Joule Thief output wires and attach it to the 5v regulator..
Now take the CD Drive Dynamo and attach its output wires to the same 5v regulator...
Now take the output wires from the 5v regulator and attach a Micro USB To it...
Now Connect the Micro USB to the Power Bank...
Now enclose everything as shown in images...
Take the rubber band and slide it through the piggy bank and put your smartphone in it as shown in the images...
Ready to Charge Up Your Life....
Now your DIY Piggy Bank Smartphone Charger is Ready so you can now use it on your own or gift it to someone as we did it to our Mom....
Now just put it on your work space and you can charge your phone by saving money....
For future we think to add solar panels and and some peltier plates to enhance its functionality...
