Photoshop Comic Book Spread

Hi there! Today I am going to be showing you how to make a comic book spread in Photoshop. This is a very simple process, you will create square frames, give them a colorful border, and add your pictures/drawings. Tools we will use:

Why hello. I told you I would see you below, didn't I? For this step we will be creating the spread itself. One of Photoshop's amazing capabilities, is that you can change the size of the page your working on. To make it look like a comic book it needs to be 7 inches wide, and 11 inches high, the rest doesn't really matter. If you are planning on doing more of these in the future, click the 'save preset' button. Then you can hit the drop-down menu and it will already be set up!

Select the rectangle tool and make a big rectangle on the top of the page. Don't make it to big, it needs to be about 1/4 of the page. There needs to be no fill, and the border should be 20 pixels, that way you can see it. To make it have a gradient border, select the gradient swatch on the top, a list of gradients will appear. The one I'm using is a custom gradient, if you know how to make custom gradients then you can look at the picture for help. In the future I am planning on making a 'Customs' Instructable, showing you all of the ways you can customize your Photoshop.

Now, you need to add your personal touch to the spread. Make it look like a comic book page, you might need to erase part of your squares if they are over-lapping, don't be afraid to. I would say do 4-7 squares but the more squares you do, the more crowded it will look. If you want to change the gradient on the squares you can do that too, but it might become unorganized.

For this step import your pictures into the spread. Make sure that they are below all of the square layers, that way if they go outside of the squares they are not over-lapping the borders.

Now resize the photos/drawings. When you are resizing, make sure you are holding shift, that way everything will stay in proportions. If it goes outside of the frame's it's okay, because you will put the other pictures on top of that layer.

Add the rest of the photos/drawings into the spread using steps 4 and 5. My pictures I used don't tell a story, I just put in random drawings I did. Then save it and you're done!
