In this article I will show you how to convert picture to stamp using Photoshop. You can also make digital stamps online.

Let’s see how to create rubber stamp in Photoshop and how to convert photo to stamp online.

To create a stamp effect in Photoshop is not very easy but not very hard either. It can take you about 10 minutes to make a digital stamp.

Pick the Ellipse Tool. Keep the Shift key pressed while you draw, to create a perfect round circle. Set the color to white.

Add your photo in a new layer. Right click and choose Create Clipping Mask.

Add a Threshold adjustment layer. Right click and choose Create Clipping Mask.

Alternatively, you can use the Photocopy Filter or the Stamp Filter from Filters gallery to create the stamp effect.

To adjust the photo contrast, click on the Photo layer and use the Dodge Tool or the Burn Tool to lighten or darken certain areas.

Select all the layers, right click and choose Merge Layers. Name the layer Photo to Stamp.

Open the Layer Style Window > Blending Options > Blend If and Remove white.

To quickly remove the white background, use this free remove white background Photoshop action.

Pick the Ellipse Tool. Keep the Shift key pressed while you draw, to create a perfect round circle.

Set the Fill to 0%. Add a Stroke layer style of 7px.

Press Control+J to Duplicate the Ellipse Layer. Press Control+T to resize the shape to 110%. Set the Stroke layer style to 5px.

Press Control+J to Duplicate the Ellipse copy Layer. Press Control+T to resize the shape to 130%. Set the Stroke layer style to 12px.

You can also add a circle border using these circle shapes for Photoshop.

Go to the the Ellipse 2 copy layer. Pick the Horizontal type tool and click on the edge of the ellipse to add circle text.

To write text around a circle you can also use this free circle text Photoshop action.

To create a grunge effect, use textures. Add a grunge texture above the stamp smart object. Add a Layer Mask to the stamp smart object. Go to Image > Apply Image. Hide the grunge texture layer to see the result.

The same distressed effect can be obtained with a texture png image. You can basically use any grunge texture as mask for making the stamp effect. This method works great for any type of layer: shapes, text and photos.

Optional, you can select all the layers and convert into a smart object. Then, it’s easy to change the color and make a red stamp for example.

So, here is the result for the photo to stamp effect made from scratch in Photoshop. In the same way you can create a word stamp by replacing the photo. But, I personally prefer these kind of custom rubber stamps with images for different creative projects.
