Phosphorous Powder
This is what is used on the top of matches to start them off.
It can be used to make firelighters.
You Will Need:
-Needle nose pliers
-Matches (lots)
-Jar (For Storage)
-Pencil
-A4 Sheet of Paper
Crush the Heads Off the Matches:
You will need to gently squeeze the head of the match until it cracks it will then fall off onto the A4 paper which should be folded in quarters then unfolded again.
Creating the Powder:
Once you have crushed the heads off all the matches make it into a powder by rolling the pencil over it until it is a fine powder. Use the folds in the paper to keep it in the middle.
Storage:
The final step of this Instructable is to pour the powder into the jar to keep safe. Make sure that the jar has no moisture in it or it will spoil the phosphorus.
What to Do With the Match Sticks:
You could of course make a giant model out of them but it would be more interesting, and fun, to make a fire lighter out of them using the powder you just made.
