Phool Makhana Laddu

Phool Makhana Laddu is a delightful Indian sweet treat, combining the earthy crunch of phool makhana (fox nuts or lotus seeds) with the sweetness of jaggery or sugar. This wholesome laddu is not only delicious but also packed with nutrients, making it a popular choice for festive occasions, celebrations, or simply as a healthy snack. Originating from North India, these laddus have gained popularity across the country for their unique texture and flavor.

In this instructables, I'll guide you through a simple and easy-to-follow recipe to create these irresistible Phool Makhana Laddus right in your own kitchen.

Supplies

Ghee - 3 tsp

Almond - 1/4 cup

Chopped Almond - 1/4 cup

Chopped Cashew -1/4 cup

Cashew - 1/4 cup

Phool Makhana (fox nuts or lotus seeds) - 1 1/2 cup

Pistachios - 1/4 cup

Dry Coconut grate - 1/4 cup

Raisins - 1/4 cup

Dates (seed less) - 1/4 cup

Figs (Anjeer) - 1/4 cup

Jaggery powder - 1/2 cup

Water - 1/4 cup

Cardamom powder - 1/2 tsp

Watermelon seeds - 1/4 cup

Roasting

Add 1 tsp of Ghee to the pan and roast the 1 1/2 cup of foxnuts in low flame till it becomes crispy.

Add 1 tsp of Ghee, 1/4 cup of almond and 1/4 cup of cashews and roast for 2-3 mins.

Now roast 1/4 cup of Raisins for 2 mins and keep it aside.

Add 1/4 cup of chopped almond, chopped cashew, 1/4 cup of dry coconut grate, 1/4 cup of watermelon seeds to the pan and roast it for 5mins.



Grinding

Grind roasted foxnuts along with roasted almond, cashew and make it as powder.

Grind the dates, roasted raisins and figs and make it as paste.


Prepare Caramel

Now add 1/2 cup of jaggery powder to the pan and 1/4 cup of water and heat it in low flame to prepare the caramel. It will take approximately 5-10mins.

Mixing

Now take a mixing bowl with roasted dryfruits.

Add foxnut powder, dates paste and mix it well.

Add caramel to the mix and mix it well.

Preparing Laddus

Now take the small portion of the mix and make it as a ball. It's ready for serving.

This can be stored in air tight container and has a self life more than 2 weeks.
