Phone/Tablet Lego Stand (Yoga Stand)

There is a multitude of DIY phone stands out there and frankly it's pretty easy to make a stand from old credit cards or a piece wood with a groove cut in it. One could say that leaning it up against a book is fine. All these DIY hacks have one common flaw and that's adjustability. The formula for the perfect stand from my point if view is size + simplicity + adjustability. I've seen some other lego stands out there that are either too simple like the block in front block in back on a base plate type or the 20+ piece monstrosity that still only holds your phone only one way, never mind a phablet or a full sized tablet. My design is simple with only 8 moving pieces, adjustable to accommodate any size from the smallest of the phones to the largest of the tablets and yet small enough to fit in your pocket. I call it the Yoga Stand.

I was never really into Technics as a kid but I still managed to find these 2 very common pieces and connectors in my original collection.

Two of the long pieces and two connectors are needed to make the body. The other two long pieces and two connectors make part of the legs. Two L pieces and connectors are needed for the arms and legs then it's done. I just added eyes to personify the thing so it would look more like a man. There is actually no right or wrong way to put your leg/arm placement. It all depends on what size of tablet or phone and the variation in which you choose to use it.

Here are some examples showing a few different machines in either portrait or landscape. It even holds a first gen iPad very securely in portrait and landscape.

Sticking two together by the feet using an additional 2 connectors makes for a stronger base when using the bigger tablets.

I run a mac air 11 inch. It's done me well but I find it gets a bit hot from time to time. I used to use it with a full size fan underneath but the things just too big. I put three of the Yoga Stands together and sat my laptop on it. It created some space for air to circulate and only raised the angle by a bit. I found this kept my computer cooler than just having it on a table.
