Phone and Camera Bench
If you're tired of propping your phone and camera up with objects from around the house, look no further! A popsicle bench is an easy, inexpensive, and fun way to do it.
Supplies
- Large Popsicle sticks
- Regular Popsicle sticks
- Scissors
- Hot Glue
Making the Bench Back and Seat
Start by grouping two sets of three large popsicle sticks together.
Next glue two smaller popsicle sticks along the back of both sets. This will not only hold the larger sticks together but will also reinforce them and prevent breakage.
Adding the Back Legs
To make the back legs of the bench, glue two smaller sticks on each end of the ones already there.
(This is also a good way to make a little wooden sign if you wanted one.)
Gluing the Back and Seat Together
Place two small drops of glue on the sticks attached to the back of the bench. Set the bench seat in the glue and keep it at a ninety-degree angle. I used a broken popsicle stick to hold mine for me.
Once it has dried take another stick and glue it so it touches both back legs and seat.
Making the Front Legs
Mark a section on a small stick to determine where you want to cut and repeat the process on another stick. Be sure they're both the same length or your bench might be a bit lopsided.
Gluing the Front Legs
Add two more drops of glue just in front of a stick on the underside of the seat. This will help prevent your front bench legs from sliding too far back.
Take both legs and attach them. You may need something pressing against them to keep them aligned.
Adding the Leg Braces
Even having the main parts of your bench glued together, it may still be a bit wobbly. To remedy this, take one small popsicle stick and mark the distance between your bench's front and back legs.
Cut along your markings and repeat the process three more times. Using your first stick as a guide for the others can make it faster and more accurate.
Glue two bracers on the outside and two on the inside of the legs.
Adding the Slip Guard
Glue one final small stick along the front of your bench to keep your device from slipping.
Finished!
You now have a smart-looking bench for your devices!
