Phone and Battery Bike Holder (with Tinkercad)
Have you ever been on a bike ride when your phone battery died and stopped tracking your progress? I have so I decided to make a bike phone holder that also holds a battery so your phone will never die on a bike ride again.
Supplies
- Tinkercad
- 3D printer
- battery
- charging cable
- a phone
- ziptie
Make the Phone Holder
Create a cube with dimensions 3-4 mm larger than your phone. Then create a hole in the middle of the cube the size of your phone, making sure there is a hole on the top to slide your phone in and that the bottom is solid. Now that there is a place for the phone, create a hole for the screen so you can use your phone while it's in the case. Leave ledges to hold on the the phone so it doesn't fall out and leave room at the bottom for the home button.
Make the Battery Holder
Now that you have the phone holder you need something to hold the battery. I started by measuring the battery (try to get the dimensions right I did not so the battery is very loose in the holder) then I made another cube slightly larger. After I did that I make a cylinder (that was the shape of my battery) the size of my battery and made it a hole in the cube. Now you have a holder for the battery.
Make Holes for the USB and Charging Ports
Make rectangles the size of a USB and charging cable. Then make those holes and stick them through the phone and battery holders where the ports will be.
Make the Handle Holder
Create another cube with a hole the diameter of your handlebars for your handlebars to go through. Make a hole in the bottom so your handle bars can slide into the hole. Lastly you make holes on both sides of the hole so the ziptie can hold the holder in place. Now you are ready to save the model as a .stl file and print it.
Assembly
Push the ziptie through the holes, with the handle in the hole, looping it around the handle and tie it on top to secure it to the handlebar. Push the phone into the phone holder, and loop the charging cable through the hole and plug the battery into the phone. You are now finished and can go on a bike ride!
