Phone Rest From Poptarts Box

College can be tough. Sometimes after a long day of cramming and sitting through long lectures, it can be nice to sit back and relax with some videos from my favorite creators. After twenty minutes of procrastination usually results in the phone slipping from its position and a really bad neck cramp. This instructable is a quick solution using two common materials found in your local dorm room; a Pop-Tarts box and tape. Note: This instructable only works with the smaller Pop-Tarts box.

Tools and Materials

Tools
  • Something like scissors to cut the cardboard

Materials

  • 1 Pop-Tarts box
  • Tape

Preparing the Box

Carefully pull the Pop-Tarts box apart at the seams. Making sure not to damage too much of the cardboard. Once that is done lay it out flat to get something like this.

Labeling

This step is to show where we will be folding and cutting the box. I have also numbered the flaps to make it easier for later in the instructions. The green lines are where you will be folding the box. The dotted lines are where you will be cutting the box.

Cutting

Cut the box along the dotted lines. The cuts on flaps four can be cut last as those cuts are excess cardboard. Make sure to NOT cut the fold lines. After cutting it should look like this.

We will fold the box in on itself effectively covering the outside designs. First, fold in flaps three on either side. Put the tabs on flap two behind what effectively is a part of the side of the stand. Feel free to use tape through this to hold one side of the box while folding.

When you fold down flap one put its tab between flap two and flap three. This helps keep flap six from bending back into shape. Repeat this on the other side of the box to complete the base where the phone will sit.

Fold flap five inwards towards the inside of our box.

Then fold up flaps nine and ten into the front of the box tucking flaps three in between flaps two and three.

Finishing Touches

Use tape to hold any parts that are not staying in place making sure to tape the back half to the front so it doesn't collapse or burst. Trim off any excess cardboard that prevents it from sitting flush and enjoy! The Best part about this project is that it doesn’t take very long and whenever you are done you can just throw it into the recycling bin.
