Hi, my name is Von Kestler Aquino, and I'm a college student at Southern Luzon State University, currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.

For my entry, I have created a 3D CAD miniature of our famous Philippine Jeepney with the purpose of decoration and display. Unfortunately, I do not have access to a 3D printer to test the printability of this CAD design. However, I have ensured that the minimum thickness of my design is 1 mm, with most parts being 1.5 mm thick.

This is our old jeepney that I took inspiration from for the overall design of the 3D CAD model. It showcases the iconic design of this popular mode of transportation, drawing inspiration from the American military jeeps used during World War II. The jeepney has evolved into a unique cultural symbol in the Philippines, representing the country's history, creativity, and resilience. The typical exterior design of a jeepney exhibits a combination of bold lines and curves, with a front grille featuring intricate details and ornate decorations. The vehicle's roof is adorned with colorful artwork and hand-painted designs that reflect Filipino culture, folklore, and landscapes. Although the 3D design may not capture the essence of the art on the jeepney's design as it would add complexities to the creation process, the art can be hand-painted if desired.

Design Process

Phiippine Jeepney 3D Timelapse

The process of creating this design is too lengthy to document in a step-by-step guide. However, I have prepared a captivating timelapse video that showcases the entire process of designing the Philippine Jeepney, providing a glimpse into the details and creative decisions involved. The video captures the evolution of the design, from initial sketches to digital modeling. Additionally, I have included an additional file type of the design for your convenience, allowing you to explore and examine the 3D model from various angles. Whether you choose to watch the timelapse video or examine the 3D model, I believe these resources will provide you with a comprehensive understanding of the design process and the essence of the iconic Philippine jeepney.

Since I do not have the ability to 3D print this design, I can only provide you with the expected 3D printed output, both with colors and without colors, using Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS) as the filament. Additionally, the use of colors in the printing process will enhance the visual appeal of the jeepney design, bringing out the vibrant and artistic elements that make it unique. Please note that the actual colors and appearance may vary slightly depending on the 3D printing process and settings used. However, I am confident that the 3D printed output will provide a realistic representation of the design and capture the essence of the iconic Philippine jeepney.
