I made a Petronas Twin Tower pop-up mechanism because it looks cool! It looks even cooler with the light at the back creating sliced shadow form along the pop-up. At first it did look like two birthday cakes combined but the middle bridge made the signature look of Twin Tower complete.

Supplies

  1. Paper (prefer 250gsm or above for stronger structure)
  2. Penknife that is sharp
  3. ruler
  4. Printer (to print out template) or you can draw on your own
  5. light source (flashlight from phone)

I traced the original cutting into digital form so that you can use it as reference. The dotted parts are supposed to be folded while the black lines are to be cut out. You can change the design to suit your imagination as well.

Fold

Fold the parts of dotted lines and make them protrude out of the paper to create a pop-up effect.

Lighting

Place a light source behind your pop up to create a dramatic effect, you can also use lights of different color as well!
