Supplies:

pencil

black Sharpie

construction paper to match pet's colors

scissors

glue stick

large piece of white paper (I used 11 x15 watercolor paper.)

Optional:

damp cloth and a dry cloth for cleaning glue off your fingers

Pose Your Pet

This is Lulu, the subject for my mosaic.

Draw Your Pet

IMG_1482.JPG

Drawing lightly with the pencil, make a simple outline of your pet. It doesn't have to be perfect.

Outline Pet With Sharpie

IMG_1483.JPG

With the black Sharpie, trace over your pencil drawing. Then you can erase your pencil lines.

Cut Construction Paper

IMG_1484.JPG

Cut construction paper into different sized triangles.

Gluing

IMG_1489.JPG

Start with your pet's body and glue triangles along the borders. Overlap your pieces.

Keep Gluing

IMG_1490.JPG

Fill in the rest of the body with triangles.

Status Update

Lulu asks, "Are you done with my mosaic yet?"

Ears

IMG_1491.JPG

Now glue in triangles for your pet's ears.

Face and Tag

IMG_1492.JPG

Fill in your pet's face with triangles. Also fill in her identification tag. I made one rectangular piece for her name.

Eyes and Nose

IMG_1497.JPG

Fill nose with triangles. I cut circles for the inside of the eyes. Lulu also has two little freckles.

Background

IMG_1498.JPG

Since Lulu is white and the paper is white, I added a background color.
