Pesto Bread

This is my intructable for pesto bread. It not only tastes great but it also looks amazing! This is a perfect bread as a side dish or for a BBQ or just as a snack.

What You Need

Here is what you need for the pesto bread:

- flour

- yeast

- sugar

- oilve oil

- salt

- pesto (if you want to make your own pesto you can find it here https://www.instructables.com/id/Homemade-Green-Pe... )

- grated cheese

* - puff pastry (If you don´t have the time to make your own dough)

Dough

First you have to make the dough.

If you don´t have time to do that you can use puff pastry. You´ll need three layers of puff pastry. If you choose to do that you can skip this and the next step.

Put 500g of flour, a pinch of salt and 1 tablespoon of sugar into a bowl. Mix lukewarm water (about 200ml) with yeast. You can either use dry yeast (one package/15g) or fresh yeast (42g). Add 25ml oil into the flour mix.

Add the yeast- water mixture to the flour bowl and mix it together. You can use a mixer but most of the time I use my hands. Kneal it for at least 10 minutes.

If your dough is to sticky add some flour - If your dough is to dry and does not form one ball add some water!

Let the dough rise for about one hour.

Roll, Roll, Roll Your Dough

Now it´s time to separate the dough into three parts.

Next you have to roll out one part. Try to make it as thin as possible. Once it´s rolled out cut it into a circle. I used a base of a springfrom to get a perfectly round circle. Do that with all parts.

Pesto

Preheat your oven to 180°C/ 350°F.

Lay the rolled out dough on parchment paper.

Put a big spoonful of pesto ( https://www.instructables.com/id/Homemade-Green-Pe... ) on the dough and spread it around the whole circle. Add the cheese. (I already put the cheese into the pesto, that´s why you can´t see it on the picture).

Add another layer on top of that and spread more pesto and cheese onto it.

Add the last layer but don´t put pesto and cheese on top of it. (picture 3)

Cut It

Find the middle and add a circle there (you can use a glass for that, but make sure that you don´t press through all the layers)

Now cut from the inner circle to the outside, here you have to cut through all layers. It should look like a sun now (picture 2).

Turn It and Bake It

Now grab two "sunrays" and turn them twice. Turn one to the right and the other to the left. Do that with every ray. Now it should look like picture 2.

Even when it doesn´t look perfect, it doesn´t matter, the dough will rise in the oven and it will sort itself out.

Put it into your preheated oven and let it bake for about 15- 20 minutes. Keep an eye on it because depending on your oven the pesto bread might take longer or shorter to be ready.
