Personal Tips & Tricks, and Vintage Style Editing Tutorial

Here are some photography tips and tricks from me personally for capturing what you see, how you want, with what you have, while showing your personality threw your pictures.

Take advantage of every moment of your life, Most pictures can turn out to be a great photograph that tells a story, and a memory. So go on a hike with your closest friends, explore where the trail ends, walk where no one has walked, don't forget your camera! take pictures, and share your journey with the world. Look at things from different angles, you'll be amazed at what you can find. Don't be afraid to look silly while taking pictures. Have confidence in yourself and your photography. If you have an idea for a picture or think something might look cool, don't push it away! Take chances and do whats in your mind to do! If you need a model, ask a friend, do not be embarrassed asking them, if they are your friend, im sure they will not mind at all :) Be creative and imaginative!
I take photos of all kinds of things, i do human portraits and pet portraits, close ups of natures details, wildlife, some landscapes here and there, and street photography, But i love to make all my photos look a certain way. I grew up spending most of my time with my grandma who loved antiques and everything vintage, i share the same passion for the old days and vintage things. i love being able to bring back some of the style from the 50's, 80's or whatever era. So i take my photographs and edit them to look as if they are from way back when. But you don't need a bunch of fancy and expensive equipment and cameras, or photoshop to make your pictures look "professional" You can use your iPhone or little point and shoot and get good quality photos. And today, i will be showing you how you can get your own pictures to look vintage/rustic, (it seems to be big today) and tips for capturing not just a picture but a story, and for it to look how you want it too.

I use a free app called "Aviary" it had lots of different editing tools and just the things i need for making my pictures look how i want.

First you need one of your own awesome photos! Any will do, whatever you want that you may like to have a vintage feel to em!

Go into the "effects" folder, there should be at least one or two in there if you are new to the app, you can get in and download some more filter packs for free threw the app

I like to use filters in the filter pack i downloaded called "Wanderlust" if you have that go into there, if you don't, go into "signature" and find a good filter that makes the green and other important colors really pop out, also make sure that you like the look of it ;)

For this picture i chose the filter "Sadona" i like how it makes the color of the barn and the grass really shine. But you can choose whatever filter makes the main colors of your photo shine!

After choosing your filter, go into the "Colors" editing.

Go to the section of "Warmth" i like to move it to the right more, it makes it have more of an orangey or brown tint to it.

Then go to the section that says "tint" i like to put the bar more to the left because i makes it more green and the green really pops out then

Now, go to the "fade" section. Here move the dot to the right side of the bar as much as you'd like, it makes the photo fade and thus look vintage.

Congrats! You just finished editing your photo, i bet it looks great! If it didn't turn out just as you hoped, try again, use different filters and different amounts of warmth, tint and fade. Find what suits you and your style best, there are no boundaries and the possibilities are endless!
