Personal Halloween Project

My teacher Ms.Distelhorst (shout out to her) offered me a pumpkin to take home since she needed it just for a project in class. I accepted the offer and made it a mission to learn how to carve a pumpkin for this upcoming Halloween. This instructable is just me learning how to carve a pumpkin.

Supplies

-Knife

-Spoon

-container

-paper

-pen

The first step I did was simple, cut around the stem of the pumpkin

Gutting

This next step is were all the mess gets involved, gutting the pumpkin! I plunged my hand inside the hollow shell, instantly feeling the cold, slimy strands cling to my fingers. As I twisted my hand around, scooping up handfuls of slippery seeds, a shiver ran down my arm, it was both gross and oddly satisfying. Once I finally pulled out the last stringy bits, I grabbed a spoon and scraped away the leftover pulp until the inside was smooth and clean.

Sketching

After finishing the major part of the pumpkin I starting sketching out some design I have for the face giving it a touch of my creativity and personality.

Designing

Having a face in mind I started to trace it on my pumpkin. In my opinion it's better to use anything erasable than permanent as any potential mistakes could easily be washed off, so I used a washable sharpy. Next I started to cut out the shapes I made on the pumpkin

Cut the shapes you made on the pumpkin and remember to clean up you MESS!

Decoration

After finally completing all the step, I could now proudly put it outside my house for decoration this Halloween. This instructable might be useful for people like me who didn't know how to carve a pumpkin up until now. So after reading this go out their and have some fun!
