Perpetual Motion Machine
This is a perpetual motion machine. The idea behind it is that it will continue to spin forever, if built correctly.
Supplies
- Cardboard
- tape
- knife/scissors
- wd40
- fidget spinner/bearing
- pencil
- ruler
- piece of wood
Cut the Cardboard
- Cut 2 circles, 5 in Dia.
- Cut 10 rectangles, 4''x1'
- Cut 10 1' squares
Begin Assembly
Attach the squares to the circle, as shown. The squares should be equally placed along the perimeter.
Finish Assembly
- Place the other circle on top of the squares
- Add the rectangles to the squares by placing tape on the joints, but only on 1 side. This allows the "arms" to bend one way, but not the other way.
Oil the Bearing
- Take off the bearing cover
- Drown the bearing in WD40 in order to reduce friction
Finish
- Glue the fidget spinner to the machine
- Glue the fidget spinner's other side onto a piece of wood
- Mount it straight up and down
- If built correctly, it will spin forever once you start spinning it.
