Perfect Flashcards (for Vocabulary)

beautiful, easy to use and efficient flashcards

if you are trying to learn more words, you'll need some form of flashcards. there are two ways: you can use flashcard applications but I prefer the physical ones...it has a better feel to it. the most important thing about flashcards is the fact that you can shuffle the cards. if you write the words in a notebook, you can't shuffle them and the mere order of the words will make them easier to remember (so when you need the words in real life; you can't remember them)

so I tried my best to create the perfect flashcards for language learners

PS: also Instructables doesn't allow users from Iran to post projects, if you like this flashcards please tell them to fix that!

Supplies

A4 paper (it should be "80 gram" paper! if you use thin papers you'll be able to see the translation through the card which isn't a good thing)

guillotine : you don't need to have one. book stores and office supply shops have that, you just ask them to cut the paper for you

a marker

some kind of thick paper/cardboard to use as covers

paper binders

you have an A4 paper

making flashcards one paper at the time is a cumbersome task but there is a shortcut. instead of cutting paper we can draw lines on it. just fold it and use a marker to draw a line on the folded edge (you won't even need a ruller this way)

mark the edge with a marker

you can also mark it like this. it's easier

at the end, all the paper will have a table like pattern on it. (like the right side)

now we can put something like 50 papers under this one, and use the lines as guidance to cut the paper. you can use a Guillotine (book stores and office supply shops have that, you just ask them to cut it for you) which makes the process really easy(you can also use a simple cutter---be careful with the cutter!---).

the deck will be like this:

the most important thing about flashcards is the fact that you can shuffle the cards. if you write the words in a notebook, you can't shuffle them and the mere order of the words will make them easier to remember (so when you need the words in real life; you can't remember them)

as you can see, I wrote the left words upside down and this way, when I'm reading the flashcards I don't have to change my hand (you will get it when you use it)

and you write the translation of the word on the other side of the paper. for example, if you look behind the "peg" you can find the translation.

as you can see I used paper/cardboard to create some kind of holder for the deck(the black stripes). you can also use binder clips but remember that you should use two(one for each side) because after using the flashcards they will be kind of puffy at the sides which isn't good. using one holder at each side will prevent that

you can also use a marker to color the sides

add the name of the deck remember that writing two names is better because you will know how you should take it in your hand(because of the upside-down thing)
