Pepperoni Pizza With Homemade Sauce

I've used this pizza dough recipe before, and it turned out great, but I figure that if you're going to make a pizza with homemade dough, why not make homemade sauce, too? I think that most of the time storebought sauces are too sour and lack flavor, so I made sure to add more sugar and varied seasonings to this recipe. Now you can make a pizza that's almost entirely homemade and tastes delicious. If you don't believe me, try it for yourself.

Supplies

For the crust: 4 tsp. yeast, 2½ cups warm water, 4 tbsp. sugar, 4 tbsp. oil, 3 tsp. of salt, and 6 cups wheat flour.

For the sauce: 6 ounces of tomato paste, 6 ounces of water, 1 tsp. salt, 4 tsp. sugar, ½ tsp. onion powder, ¼ tsp. garlic powder, 1 pinch oregano leaves, 1 pinch black pepper, and 1 pinch basil.

Toppings: 12 ounces shredded cheese and Pepperoni slices.

Cooking utensils: 3 bowls, 2 pizza pans, 1 rolling pin, 1 whisk, Spoons, and Measuring cups.

Yield: Makes 2

Making the Dough

Once you've gathered your ingredients, combine four teaspoons of yeast, two and a half cups of water, and four tablespoons of sugar in a bowl. Next, add four tablespoons of oil, it doesn't matter what kind, three teaspoons of salt, and six cups of wheat flour. Knead the ingredients together until they are well mixed and the dough is stiff and elastic, which takes roughly six to eight minutes. Place it in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise for one hour.

Making the Sauce

While you wait for the dough to rise, you can work on the sauce. Whisk together six ounces of tomato paste, six ounces of water, one teaspoon of salt, four teaspoons of sugar, half a teaspoon of onion powder, one fourth a teaspoon of garlic powder, and a pinch of oregano leaves, basil, and black pepper. If you want, you can add other seasonings to it to accommodate your individual tastes.

Assembling the Pizzas

First, you'll need to preheat the oven to three hundred seventy-five degrees Fahrenheit, or one hundred ninety degrees Celsius. Once the dough has risen, punch it down. You'll need to grease two pizza pans to put it on. Next, take it out of the bowl and roll it out on the pizza pans with a rolling pin. Make sure to spread it out evenly, or you'll have lopsided pizzas. Now you'll need to spread the sauce on the pizzas. Sprinkle six ounces of shredded cheese on each pizza and top with pepperoni slices. Once the oven is up to temperature, cook the pizzas for thirty to thirty-five minutes.

Enjoy!
