- In a saucepan, bring water to a boil. Once it starts boiling, lower the heat to a simmer.
- Place a jar candle (3.8 oz.) into the water. Make sure the water level isn't too high; you don't want any water in the jar.
- As the candle is melting, prepare a container to pour the wax into. You can use something like the lid from a small box of chocolate (this is what I did) or make your own 6" x 6" container. Take the container and line the inside with a sheet of parchment paper.
- Once the wax has melted, pour half of it (1.9 oz.) into the square container.
- Wait 10 minutes for the wax to harden a bit.

- Melt the red crayon and combine it with the remaining 1.9 oz of white wax.
- Pour red mixture over the the white layer.
- Wait for everything to harden.

You should now have a sheet of wax that is red on one side and white on the other. Peel off the parchment paper.
Take a pair of scissors or a knife and cut off small pieces- these will be the peppermint bits.

- Melt another white jar candle (3.8 oz).
- In a separate container, melt one brown crayon and the tip of a black crayon.
- Mix one half of the white wax (1.9 oz.) into the melted brown and black crayons.
- Pour the mixture into a box lined with parchment paper (you can use the same box as before and the same parchment paper- just flip the paper over to the clean side).
- Wait 10 minutes for the brown layer to harden a bit.
- Take the remaining white wax (1.9 oz.) and pour it over the brown layer.
- Sprinkle in the peppermint bits- Don't wait too long! If the wax starts turning white and hardening, the bits won't stick and they'll end up falling off. I waited a little too long, so some of mine ended up falling off.
- Wait for it to harden.

You should now have something that looks like a sheet of peppermint bark! To finish, peel away the parchment paper and cut the bark into pieces with a knife or scissors.
