Pentagon Ufo Fire Bowl

When we tidied up our workshop, we found a couple of old steel plates, but what to do with it?

We got the answer when we were sitting in the garden at the night and when it was going to be cold.

So we went to the workshop next day and build this awesome fire bowl out of old steel plates.

This is our first instructable and we hope it isn't to bad :D

Materials and Tools

For this project you need:

  • some steel plates with a thickness of about 5mm
  • an angle grinder with a grinding wheel and cutting discs for steel
  • a welding mashine (we used a gas shielded welding mashine)
  • something to measure the angle
  • a ruler and a pencil
  • clamps to hold the pieces on the desk

Cut Out the Parts

Weld the sides together with an angle of 108°. For this we cut a piece of wood to 108° to use it as a stencil.

Adding the Bottom

When you finished the frame successful, you can add the bottom. Before you weld it, test out if it fit perfectly. If it does'nt (like in our case :), grind it until it does. Weld the bottom on every side like in the picture.

Put on the Feet and Finish

Mark the middle of the bottom and sketch three lines for the feet with an offset of 120°. Weld them on and if you want, paint it with some fireresistence paint.
