Easy Leather Pencil Case
I'm a student in Product design, for a school subject, we had to make a Flat Pack product.
A Flat Pack product is a product build out of a sheet material which creates "volume". My product is a Pencil case made of leather.
Meanwhile, I figured out how to easily get your stuff out of your pencil case without struggling.
Excited? Take a look!
Materials
What you need to make the pencil case:
-A piece of leather (at least 20 cm²)
-A zipper (30 cm)
-A needle to sew trough leather
-A wire (around 4 meter)
-A cutter and a lath
Make sure that the color of the leather, the zipper and the wire are the same. That' the most beautiful.
Cut the Leather
To cut the leather, you first of all draw all the dimensions on the leather (which you can see in the picture above). The straight lines have to be cutted very precisely to become a beautiful product. So you'd better cut them with a lath and cutter.
The radius is free to choose.
Connect the Zipper to the Leather
Start sewing on half of the zipper in the middle of the radius (picture), when your done, do the other half.
I used this stitch:
Add Piece of Leather
For the round piece, I used the same stitch as I did before.
Sew the 2 red lines on eachother. You start in the middle (where the needle is) and you go upwards. When you arrive at the zipper, go around it for a few times untill its fixed. Then continue to the beginning.
It's important that the sewing part is on the inside to create good look.
