Pencil Holder With Separate Compartments

My desk was always messy with all of my pens scattered around alongside my papers. I got a pencil holder, but now I had a different problem: my pens, pencils, highlighters, and other supplies were all mixed up. To solve this problem, I decided to create a pencil holder that had separate compartment. This would keep all of my stationery organized into their own categories. In this guide, I'll walk you through designing and 3D printing a pencil holder with compartments.

Supplies

Prusa Slicer

Autodesk Fusion 360

Creating the Base of the Holder

Start a sketch on the top plane. Click on the origin and create a cylinder. Make the diameter 100mm, and set the height to 3mm.

Split the Base Into 4 Compartments

Create another sketch, but this time, on top of the cylinder. Sketch a circle with a dimeter of 94mm. Draw 2 horizontal and vertical lines, but extend it all the way to the end of the bigger circle. Dimensions the horizontal and vertical lines to be 2mm apart. Finish the Sketch.

Extrude the Compartments

Extrude the faces 50mm upwards.

Extrude Tiers at Different Heights

Redraw the same circles and lines on top of the extrusion. Select 3 of the parts to extrude, and extrude it upwards by 25mm. Repeat the extrusion for the third tier.

Extend the height of the tiers at different levels to balance out the final shape.
