Pea and Ham Soup

Pea and Ham soup 181.JPG
This Traditional soup is one of my childhood favorites, where as it might be better suited for the winter time, i could eat it any time of year so i decide to share it with you. This hearty soup is incredibly simple like most soups, it requires next to no prep time and very little cooking time.

I have had a look at various other recipes on the internet regarding mine, and i can safely say that it is not the healthiest, but i can assure you that its tastes amazing, but i guess you will have to try it out for your self and make up your own mind.

Lets get started

Ingredients:
50g of Butter
1 onion, chopped
2 Clove of Garlic
1l Chicken or vegtable stock
1 large potato, diced (or equiealent in smaller)
550g frozen Garden Peas
350g thickly sliced ham, fat removed should be shredded or torn

I have been able to Break this recipe up in to 4 easy steps.

1. Saute
2. Add stock/Peas
3. Blend
4. Add torn Ham

Step 1
Saute onions, garlic and potatos in the butter

Step 2
once the first set of ingredients have sauted in the pan for a few minutes its time to add the stock and peas. allow to simmer.

Step 3
Blend them all together..... Do not do what i do in the video, it was a Bloody nightmare, always, always use the stick blender. foolishly thinking you can manage by pouring it in to a normal blender, not only makes a huge mess but doesn't work as well.

Step 4
Add the torn ham and stir thoroughly, finally check for seasoning and adjust.

 Garnish suggestions :

Single cream
Crispy/Chopped Bacon
Olive Oil
Salt and Pepper
Basil

Thank you for reading so far and i hope you enjoy the video.

If you choose to subscribe to my YouTube account at the moment i should warn you that i am currently going though a hiatus, due to my preparations for a company wide cooking competition, that i am currently in the grand final of. This hiatus will last until the end of this month when i plan to upload the recipes that i have been working on. needless to say these recipes put all of my other ones to shame in flavour, innovation and presentation, and it is an understatement to say that i'm incredibly excited to share them with you.

Thanks again please leave a comment if you have any queries of questions.
