Patchwork Shower Curtian

Do you love Shabby Chic décor as much as I do? Whether you sew your own patchwork, or do like I did and purchase one in an antique store, you can make an adorable shower curtain.

Supplies

For this project, you will need a Quilt top, Sewing machine, thread, scissors, fabric for back and edges, (I bought 5 yards) measuring tape and a plastic shower curtain liner.

Measure Plastic Liner

My shower curtain liner was 72" x 74"

Sew Border Around Quilt Top

Depending on how big your quilt top is, you will need to add a few inches around each side to make it large enough for a shower curtain. Cut 4 long strips of fabric and sew them to the sides of your quilt top so that it is the same size as the shower curtain (plus 1/2" on all 4 sides for the seam allowance)

Sew the Back

My fabric was 44" wide. I cute 2 lengths 75" long, placed these right sides together and stitched up the center seam. Press seam open.

Sew Front to Back

Place the front and back, right sides together. Pin. Sew around all 4 sides leaving a 6" opening. Turn right sides out. Press. Sew the opening shut. Top stitch around the entire edge.

Button Holes

Line up the top of the shower curtain liner with the top of the quilt top curtain. Pin where the button holes need to be. Using either the button hole stitch or ziz-zag, Sew the same number of button holes as your plastic shower curtain has- and in the same place.

Hang Up

Place shower curtain hooks through the button holes and the holes in the plastic shower curtain liner. Hang your shower curtain up on the rod and enjoy!
