Paste Cartridge Holder
I have the problem that paste cartridge holders are laying everywhere at my shed and when I need one, that one is lost. That is why I decided to build a paste cartridge holder and for you guys make an instructable of it.
Step 1: Measurements
First you need to know how many cartridges you want to store and how big they are. I decided to store 8 and the cartridges I have here all have a diameter of 5cm. So the total length had to be 40cm. I wanted the cartridges to stand up vertically so you can clearly see which one is which. I also made an inclusion so the cartridges would not fall off when i drill in the wall or something.
Step 2: Materials
For the holder i used just one part of hardwood. I did this because i have almost everything in my workplace made of hardwood but almost every wood is okay since the cartridges aren't heavy.
Materials:
-Wood
-Screws
-Wall plugs
Tools:
-Tablesaw
-Colomn drill
-Drill
-Water leveler
-Screwdriver
Step 3: Sawing
Next thing to do is draw your measurements on the wood and saw it. Make sure you saw it straight, you can do that with a supporter like in the picture. For the inclusion i made some blocks like in picture 2 with a length of 5cm like the cartridge diameter.
Step 4: Drill
After you have all the pieces sawn it is time too drill them. Measure your wood and make a little hole with hamer and a nail. After that you can go to the colomn drill and drill the wood. When you are using hardwood like me, make sure you drill slow and get the bore out the wood many times because hardwood has a high density and the bore gets very hot.
Step 5: Sanding
After it is sawn and drilled it needs to be sanded. I used a sanding machine but you can also do it by hand. I started with 60 grit and finished it with 100 grit. As you can see in the second picture i made the parts for the inclusion round with a drill. This is not necessary, you can keep them square if you prefer that.
What comes after sanding is making the hole a bit bigger where the screw ends. This is not particallary neccessary for soft wood. I used a special tool for it (see picture) but couldn't find the english name for it. In dutch it is: soeverijn boor. If you can't find it, it is also possible to drill a little bit with a bigger drill.
Step 6: Install
Now it is time to install all the parts on the wall. First mark the first hole with a stift or scratcher and drill there first and fasten the wood a bit. Then use a water leveler to put it horizontal and mark the second hole, drill it and fasten the plank. Now do the exact same thing for the inclusion and you have a paste cartridge holder.
