Parametric Open Box With Finger Joints in Fusion360
This is instruction on how to use a fully parametric Fusion360 drawing to design a five-sided, open-top box with finger joints. With this file, you can determine overall dimensions of their box (length, width, height, material thickness) and the number of desired finger joints in each dimension. Once your design is finalized, you can use the built in projection sketches to export your files to .dxf format for sending to a laser printer.

Supplies

Material you wish to build your open top box from
Adhesive
Clamps
Open User Parameters, Edit Your Box!
Editing this file is done entirely inside of the User Parameter dialog box, found under Modify >> Change Parameters. Here the parameters are:
Thick = The thickness of your material.
Length = Units in the y dimension. This also could be thought of as depth.
Width = Units in the x dimension.
Height = Units in the z dimension.
Lfingers = Number of fingers along the Length of the box.
Wfingers = Number of fingers along the Width of the box.
Hfingers = Number of fingers along the Height of the box.
Export DXFs
Once you've settled on your dimensions, open the sketch tree and find three sketches labeled "Right and Left Projections," "Front and Rear Projections," and "Bottom Projection."
Next, simply right click on each of these sketches to save it as a .dxf. Note that the right and left sides of the box are symmetrical, as well as the front and rear sides of the box. Export symmetrical sides once. Don't forget to print them twice!
