Survival Bracelets

Paracord survival bracelets are ubiquitous in survival circles.....but once you are in a survival situation what are you doing with it? You aren't going to repel with 6-8 feet of paracord! How about hunting for food...or fishing.

Fishing!!!

So with an 8 foot bracelet, you can make a fishing net that will indeed help you to survive. You need to cut the line in half, leaving two four foot sections. Pull the inner threads out and that will give you fourteen nylon threads and two outer parts.

Build a Net

Take on section of the outer piece an tie it across between two trees ( for example) so that you have a horizontal piece of outer paracord braid. Then fold each of the inner core fibers in half, and using a Cow hitch, tie each to the horizontal cord.

Each center piece should be spaced about 1 1/2 inches apart.

Add Depth...

When you have all the inner cords tied to the horizontal outer cord, it is time to start tying. Take one strand from the first cord, and one strand from the second cord, and tie the together with an overhand knot.

This will form a triangle between the two inner cords and the outer cord.

Keep tying overhand knots horizontally across the rig. Then start about an inch down and do it all again. As you work horizontally the net will begin to form. Try to keep symmetry across the net ( unlike mine) an work all the way across and down until you have a full net.

You can finish it off by tying the other piece of outer cord to the bottom of your net. Making it symmetrical on the top and the bottom.

Please let me know if you have questions. I don't know about the legality of this net, but in a survival situation, hopefully it brings in the chow!

Thanks for looking.
