Paracord Sheep/Goat Halter
I made a paracord halter because I show lambs and I figured that it would be fun and cool to make my own halter to use.
Supplies
You will need a lighter, scissors, 15ft of one color, 15ft of another color, 8ft of one of one of the colors that you choose, a ruler, a clip of some sort, just make sure that the clip is strong enough to hold a sheep to the fence, and an ezzzy-jig which is optional but I like to use it.
Find Something to Anchor It To
Find something that is about a half of an inch in width so that it can hold both of your 15ft strands of paracord while you braid it, and also so that you can run your rope through it when you are finished with the first braiding part.
Begin Braiding
Now that you got your paracord anchored, you can start braiding. For this part, you will be braiding the 4-strand round braid. The picture found above is what it should look like after three or four times through.
Continue Braiding
Keep braiding until you get about two or three inches from the end of the strands of paracord.
Forming the Halter Shape
When you get two or three inches from the end, you need to slide the end through the loop that you created when you first started braiding.
Making the Nosepiece
This is where I like to use the ezzzy-jig. First, you find the center of the 7ft strand of paracord. Next, you make a bull hitch knot on the opposite side of the loop that you slid the rope through. After you make that, you run the paracord through the loop you made earlier and then bring it to the sides. Now you do the cobra braid all the way down the paracord to the bull hitch. Make sure that while you braid the cobra braid, that you do not braid the four strand braid into it.
Finishing It
To finish it, first you need to cut off the loose ends and burn them. Next, you need to take your clip and tie it to the rope where you left the 2-3 inches on the end.
You Are Done
Now you have finished braiding a paracord lamb halter, you can go put it on a lamb now.
