Phitens have become popular in the sports world. To bad they are over $20. In this intractable I wall show you how to make one out of paracord for under $2. You will have enough cord left over to make a bracelet too.

Materials

1. 16 Ft. of paracord
       - You need two strands(a and b)
      - This also works with two colors
       - I got 16 ft for $1.79 at JAX

2. Scissors

3. A Fire Source

Determine Neck Length

First you need to determine what length you want you necklace to be. This is just personal preference. After you choose the length add an inch an then double the length and fold it in half.

Make Your Loop

Now we make the loop. Go about an inch down from the fold and make a over hand knot.

Start the Braid/ Knoting

The strand that has the knot is gonna be strand "a" and the other one is strand "b". Fold Strand "b" in half and drape it over strand "a". Now fold both ends of strand "a" over strand "b".  Then do the same with strand "b" but cross it over strand "a". Just  keep doin that until you reach the end. Leave about 2 in. on the end for finishing it off.

Finish Up

Tie two knots to seal it. Then make a monkey knot or an overhand knot to be used as the way it stays around your neck. Then trim the ends and burn them to keep them from fraying.

Finished

Done. Now you saved $18 on a Phiten, and it is custom made.
