Paracord - 5 Color Key Fob

DSCN1039 (Medium).JPG
In this instructable I will show a few easy steps on how to make a 5 color key fob using paracord.
For this project you will need:
* 5 - different paracord colors or the same, you decide.
* Scissors
* Lighter
* plastic clip or rubber band.

Everyone is welcome to have a look at my blog where I have a few more guides:

Choose Your Colors

After choosing your colors I would recommend fusing all cord ends before starting, this will prevent the inner strings popping out and will be easier when making the knots.

Take one more cord and tie a simple knot at the end that will act as the center cord. Add a few inches extra for creating some decorative end.

Using a Plastic Clip

Take the 5 cords and clamp them into the plastic clip. It is optional to clamp the inner cord as well just try to arrange all the colors around the center cord before clamping.

The Knot Pattern

This is the knot pattern, start with one of the colors and make sure the last cord ends under the first one every round.

First Option for the Center Cord (slide In)

DSCN0705 (Small).JPG

Here you have 2 options, if you didn't clamp the inner cord you can slide it into the first round of knots and thighten them around it.

Second Options for the Center Cord (clamp It)

You can see here the 2 options: one is in the clip after tightening the first knot and the other way works exactly the same, inner cord tighten after sliding it in. Either ways are good just pick the easiest one for you.

Keep on With the Knots

Keep on until the desired length is achieved.

Cut and Fuse

DSCN0721 (Small).JPG
Almost finished, on this last step you can take off the plastic clip, cut all loose cord and fuse neatly and carefully.
You can make a diamond knot at the end of the center cord or even a monkey fist as I showed in my last instructable.

A Cool Key Fob

Here is the finished key fob.
You can attach it to many objects as a handle.
