Paper Transforming Ninja Star
What you will be making?
A Transforming Ninja star is a fun Oragami project that can be for all ages to do. I used this Youtube video to help me but sometimes written instructions are better for some people to understand. If you need extra help you can find the youtube video that I used here.
Supplies
You will need:
- 8 pieces of Oragami Paper sizes (9cm x 9 cm or 3.5 in. x 3.5 in)
- If you don't have origami paper any type will work but origami paper works better
- Something to make your folds more creased (Optional)
Step 1: Gather All of Your Paper
I used four different colors, but you can use two or one, but it looks nicer when you have multiple colors. You will need eight pieces of origami paper the are 3 1/4 inches by 3 1/4 inches or 8 1/2 cm by 8 1/2 cm.
Step 2 : Fold the Diagonals
This step you will want to fold the paper on both of the diagonals. In the picture that is placed above it shows that there is only one fold but you will need two folds. After you do those folds your paper should have an X center of the paper.
Step 3: More Folding
In the next step, you will fold it in half making sure that the paper is folded edge to edge. When doing this step you may need to crease the edges a little more for later.
Step 4: Folding the Edges
In the next step, you will have to fold the edges to line up with the center point like pictured. These folds will look a little like the folds in making a paper airplane.
Step 5: Last Folding
For the last amount of folding, making sure that it is folded back in half, you will need to take the end of the paper that isn't folded and push the end of it to make it look like a spear thing. You may need to look at the video that I linked.
Step 6: Repeating
Repeat steps 2-5 till all 8 of your papers look like the one in the last step.
Step 7: Putting Together
Once you have all of the papers folded you will start putting your star together. You will start by putting the open end of one paper and the closed-end and putting them together while folding the edges together so that it will move.
Step 8: Repeating
Repeat step 7 till you have all of them in a circle.
Step 9: Ending
When you get to the end of the circle the last part can be a little hard so you will have to kind of bend it a little. Once you are done with the whole thing you can either put it in a book or take a ruler and crease the edges so that it can move better
Step 10
Finish.
