Paper Plane

Paper Airplanes multi.jpg

Hello, this will be a guide to create a basic paper airplane.

Supplies

The only supplies you will need is one piece of paper, preferably printer paper.

Getting Started

Step 1.jpg

Start with a rectangular sheet of paper. Place it vertically in front of you.

First Fold

Step 2.jpg

Fold the paper in half lengthwise. Bring the top edge down to meet the bottom edge, making a sharp crease down the middle. Unfold the paper, this crease will be your guide.

Second Fold

Step 3.jpg

Fold the top two corners to the center crease. Take the top-right corner and fold it inwards so its edge aligns with the center crease. Do the same with the top-left corner. You should now have a triangular shape at the top.

Third Fold

Step 4.jpg

Fold the top point down. Take the point where the two folded corners meet and fold it down so its tip aligns with the bottom edge of the folded triangles. This creates a small, horizontal flap.

Fourth Fold

Step 5.jpg

Fold the new top corners to the center crease. Just like in step 3, take the newly formed top-right corner (of the entire folded section) and fold it inwards so its edge aligns with the center crease. Repeat with the new top-left corner. You'll now have a narrower, sharper point at the top.

Fifth Fold

Step 6.jpg

Fold the small horizontal flap up. Take the small flap you created in step 4 and fold it upwards, over the two newly folded corners. This will secure the folds in place.

Sixth Fold

Step 7.jpg

Fold the entire plane in half. Fold the plane along the original center crease you made in step 2, bringing the two halves together so the folded-in sections are on the inside.

Seventh Fold

Step 8.jpg

Create the wings. From the top edge of the folded plane, fold down one side to create a wing. The fold should be parallel to the bottom edge of the plane, and the width of the wing is up to you (typically about 1 to 1.5 inches). Repeat on the other side, making sure both wings are symmetrical.

Finishing Up

Step 9.jpg

Crease the folds firmly. Run your fingernail or a ruler along all the creases to make them as sharp as possible. This will keep the shape of your plane stable for more flights.

HAVE FUN!

Step 10.jpg

You are now ready to throw your paper airplane. Try diffferent angles and heights to see how long you can keep it flying!
